Ovine coccidiosis and associated risk factors in Minya, Egypt

Abstract Background Coccidiosis is a potential protozoal disease of economic importance in sheep worldwide. The current study aimed to detect the prevalence ovine coccidiosis and identification recovered species Minya, Egypt. Three hundred fifty from Minia, Egypt, were coprologically examined for occurrence Eimeria oocysts by using standard floatation technique. Results Oocysts detected 180 (51.43%) animals. Mixed infection was recorded 37.14% (130/350) single revealed 14.29% (50/350) sheep. significantly higher young Fourteen detected; bakuensis , E. webybridgensis ahusta intricata granulosa faurei ninakohlyakim-ovae coitae -like, parva pallida marsica E . crandallis ovinoidalis arloingi most predominant (14.57%; 51/350) followed (14.0%; 49/350), (8.29%; 29/350), (7.14%; 25/350), (5.43%; 19/350), (4.86%; 17/350 each), (4.0%; 14/350), (3.71%; 13/350), ahsata (3.43%; 12/350 (1.71%; 6/350 each). least abundant -like (1.14%; 4/350). Conclusion Egypt; common while least. To best our knowledge, this first report Prevention effective control programs should be strictly avoid losses resulted coccidian infection.
